High Park Teams Shine at Erindale T-Ball Tournament!
Three High Park teams participated in the fifth annual 2006 Erindale T-Ball Tune-Up Tourney, July 21st to 23rd. Despite the uncooperative weather, which dampened the fields and the players on Saturday and Sunday, the tournament was once again a great success. Thanks to all the volunteers at Erindale for their hard work in hosting this fun event.
The High Park All-Stars faced stiff competition in the Major division, but went undefeated throughout the weekend to become the tournament champions. They defeated the defending champions, LaSalle Turtle Club, by one run in the final on Sunday afternoon.
The High Park Selects dominated their competition and emerged as Minor division champions on Sunday. Congratulations to both teams, and good luck at the World T-Ball Championship in Ancaster! The All-Stars will also travel to Windsor for the Turtle Club Silver Tee tournament.
The Erindale Tournament also saw the debut of the High Park T-Ball girls' team, the High Park Gems. The girls did not win a game in their first appearance, but they improved with every outing. On Saturday afternoon, trailing the Forest Hill Cardinals by 5 runs after three innings, the Gems held the Cardinals to 3 runs in the top of the 4th, then rallied for 7 in the bottom of the inning to come within 1 run of tying the game.
On Sunday morning the Gems played their best game of weekend against the High Park Selects. Following the game, the Selects emerged from their dugout with a rose for each of the players and coaches on the Girls' team, to welcome them as representatives of High Park T-Ball in tournament play.
